A native of Seattle, Dr. Jean Merry has lived in Washington, California, Iowa and Colorado. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Iowa State University. She then attended the School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota, followed by advanced training in Public Health. As a student, she received awards in Oral Medicine, Student Leadership and Public Service. After graduating, she taught oral diagnosis and emergency dentistry for eight years at the University of Minnesota. For the next seven years, she also taught anesthesia and pain management at Normandale Community College. Her areas of research were in antibiotic premedication and the oral manifestations of HIV/AIDS. In addition, she has consulted for numerous insurance companies in fraud prevention.
Dr. Merry is constantly learning and studying the art of dentistry. She has attended numerous courses in cosmetic dentistry and implant restoration. She is certified to provide Lumineers, as well as other veneer options, Invisalign and Clear Correct orthodontics. Additionally, she has been trained on the E4D for CAD/CAM dentistry. She is a member of the Academy for Sports Dentistry and has taken courses related to preventing and treating sports injuries. She served as team dentist for The Minnesota Vikings and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee Dental Volunteer Program. Dr. Merry was also instrumental in coordinating TeamSmile events with the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Vikings and Super Bowl 52, providing dental care to kids in need.
Dr. Merry is passionate in her love for children. She has 4 adult children, 7 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and has hosted 23 foster children. Along with spending time with her family and friends, Dr. Merry is active in her church and enjoys most outdoor activities. Patients enjoy hearing stories about her many adventures.
